College Park Has Never Before Been this Interesting

College Park is an exciting place in different ways. On the one hand, you have places like College Park Airport, which is the oldest continuously operating airport in the United States, and on the other hand, you have its city calendar, which consists of 5 different entries of curbside leaf collection. But weird calendar aside, it’s still one of our favorite cities since it is lucky enough to be located near Washington DC while keeping relative calmness. And to take advantage of these two sides, we bring you a list of activities both in and around College Park.

A Relaxing Journey to Lake Artemesia Natural Area

First, we’ll introduce you to a place that will help you keep both your body and mind healthy. Less than 10 minutes away, the Lake Artemesia Natural Area is a great place to go unwind, relax, and enjoy the scenery. Take a hike or bike around the park trails, walk around the 38-acre lake, or stop by the fishing pier and aquatic gardens. If you want a new experience, you can visit on the 1st or 3rd Thursday of the month and go birdwatching on the Luther Goldman Birding Trail. The best part? You can live just 5 minutes away from the lake and its surroundings in the Westchester Tower Apartment Homes. Be sure to check that out!

Washington DC’s Monuments and Memorials

If you’d like to get closer to the US’s history, you’re in the perfect place. You could visit the Lincoln Memorial, a Smithsonian Museum, and watch a show in the John F. Kennedy Center and still have dozens of other landmarks to discover. The best part is that most of these sites are completely free and can be toured within one or two hours. You can take a few days to explore Washington DC’s city center and just enjoy the different stories, buildings, and feelings you’ll find while doing so.

Spend a Morning in the Paint Branch Golf Complex

This is your chance to give golf a shot. The Paint Branch Golf Complex is a great place to either learn the game or sharpen your skills, featuring a 9-hole course (par 33) and a practice center. And if you’ve never played the sport and don’t know where to start, you can go to the Performance Center, located adjacent to the complex. Golf is a fantastic way to clear your mind and train the body, so you can see this as an investment in your own health.

Bike and Roll in Washington D.C.

Make the best of the ventures DC has to offer, but do it on two wheels. Bike and Roll offer to take you on a tour that takes advantage of nearly 50 miles of bike lanes in the city. Book your bike on their website and meet your guide to go on a 2 to 3-hour ride among the different monuments, landmarks, and DC’s neighborhoods while saving yourself the walk. But, if you dare, you can take your own bike and explore the city solo, since it’s only a 1-hour ride away from College Park.

We chose to keep this list balanced between exciting and calm, but these are only a few from a list of hundreds of activities found in and around College Park. And we promise you’ll enjoy them more if you live nearby, so be sure to check out Westchester Towers and browse our floorplans and luxury amenities to find the perfect option for you!
